New opera in May 2009

Pierre Audi, artistic director of De Nederlandse Opera, has commissioned Zuidam a new full-length opera, which will be premiered in the Amsterdam Muziektheater in May 2009. The work will be based on Vondel's 17th-century play Adam in Ballingschap (Adam in Exile). The request for a new opera comes after the wide acclaim which Zuidam's Rage d'Amours received in the Holland Festival in June 2005, when it was staged, alongside with the McGonagal-Lieder, by Guy Cassiers. Further details about the cast and the artistic team are to be announced in the near future.
