The RIAS Kammerchor from Berlin has commissioned Robert Zuidam to write a set of a capella - choral works.
Under the heading ‘Berliner Chorbuch', the compositions are scheduled to receive their premiere performance in the 2013/14 season, in Berlin.
It is the first time the renowned Berlin ensemble has commissioned a Dutch composer. Rob Zuidam has been active in Germany before : His first opera 'Freeze' was premiered in Munich in 1994, at the Biennale für Neues Musiktheater, and also the Ensemble Modern has performed his work on various occasions.
At the moment the choir and the composer are focussing on the selection of appropriate texts for the Berliner Chorbuch, which should preferably be from the hand of contemporary Berlin poets.
